Burning Issues

I just completed the Ordeal.  What next?
First, congratulations and welcome to Mowogo!  Great opportunities lie before you.  The best place to start is our Membership page.  First, explore the information for new Ordeal members, especially the National's JumpStart program.  Then, find out about your Chapter and what is involved in sealing your membership in the Order by becoming a Brotherhood member.

What's a Brotherhood member?
"Brotherhood membership is sought by Arrowmen seeking to reaffirm their belief in the high purposes of the Order"  (Order of the Arrow Handbook).  You can learn more about the Trail to Brotherhood in the Order of the Arrow Handbook, the JumpStart program, or in our Brotherhood page.

Do I have to be a registered Scout or Scout Leader to be a member of Mowogo?
Yes.  You must be currently registered with a Cub Scout Pack, a Boy Scout Troop, a Venturing Crew or registered in a District or Council position.  Explorer Posts do not qualify.

But, I was in the Order of the Arrow as a youth!
Welcome back to Scouting!  You still have to be a currently registered Scout or Scouter.  Once you have dealt with that hurdle, check out our Membership page.  That will give you additional information and direct you to the forms for renewing your membership in Mowogo or transferring to Mowogo.

I was a Brotherhood member in my old lodge.  Do I have to start over?
No.  You are still a Brotherhood member.  Same with being an Ordeal member, though we certainly invite you to follow the process towards sealing your membership in the Order by becoming a Brotherhood member.

My schedule is very unpredictable.  Do I have to pre-register to attend a Mowogo function?
Strictly speaking, no.  However, you are strongly encouraged to pre-register.  Mainly, it is a matter of courtesy.  If the Lodge does not have a real good idea as to how many will attend each function, it does not know how much food, patches, or supplies to have on hand.  Secondly, it will cost you an additional $10 to register late.  Having said all of that, there is NO late registration for the Christmas banquet.  This is because we need to provide the caterer with a specific number of attendees by a specific date.

I no longer receive the Arrow Points newsletter.  How come?
Most likely you have let your dues lapse.  You must be currently registered with the Lodge to receive the Arrow Points.  Go to our Membership page to renew your membership.  Or did you move an not let us know your new address?  Email mowogolodge@mindspring.com to update our files.

While we're talking about the Arrow Points, how can I arrange to receive them electronically?
Bless you!  We would greatly appreciate it if all Lodge members opted to receive electronic notification that the newsletters have been posted to the Arrow Points page for viewing or downloading.  That would save the Lodge a lot in printing and postage expense.  Drop an email to mowogolodge@mindspring.com and let him know that you wish to receive electronic notification.  Remember, the Arrow Points are in a password protected area of this site.  If you don't know the password, check with your Chapter leadership.

$18 seems like a lot for a weekend function.  Where does the money go?
Try living away from home for almost 48 hours on $18.  $4 goes towards the function patch.  $13 goes towards the expenses involved in feeding the members - four meals and two cracker barrels, plus the attendant supplies associated with the dining hall - trash bags, paper supplies, soap, and etc.  The last $1 goes towards miscellaneous expenses - schedule printing, Indian Engineer supplies (kerosene and candles), and etc.  The Lodge has worked diligently to hold function costs for members down and fees have not risen in several years.

Last Resort:
If we still haven't answered your question, please feel free to contact us.
