Membership
Ordeal Candidates:
Those who have been selected to become members in the
Order of the Arrow, youth and adult, must first complete
the Ordeal of the Order. Mowogo Lodge holds two
Ordeal Weekends each year, one in March and one in May.
Candidates must complete the Ordeal in one of two
successive weekends, March or May Ordeals or May and
following March, depending on when elected.
Candidates approaching their first Ordeal opportunity will
find information about the next upcoming Ordeal weekend
and the registration form in the First
Opportunity Letter. Those who bypassed the first
Ordeal opportunity will find the information they need in
the Last
Opportunity Letter.
New
Ordeal Members:
Welcome to Mowogo Lodge!!
Your
main source of information will be your Chapter
members. You are encouraged to attend your Chapter
meetings and the next Mowogo
Lodge Function that you might learn about Mowogo and
the Order and the path to Brotherhood membership.
This website will also provide a great deal of information
about the Lodge.
Additionally,
the National Order of the Arrow has a lot of information
for new Ordeal members at its JumpStart website. Click
below.
Sealing
Membership in the Order by Brotherhood Conversion:
After 10 months of Ordeal membership you are able to seal
your membership in the Order by becoming a Brotherhood
member. There is a ceremony to help refresh and enrich
your understanding of the principles and traditions of the
OA. The Lodge has challenged the Chapters to handle this
process separate from the Ordeal Fellowship weekends.
This has two benefits for the Lodge. It allows more focus
and attention to be paid to the new Ordeal members on
those weekends and it allows the Brotherhood candidates to
focus on what they are doing in sealing their membership
when they don’t have to worry about the new Ordeal
brothers under their care. It also provides an opportunity
for additional service to the Council properties, Rainey
Mountain or Scoutland.
Since the Ordeal weekends are in March and May, the 10
month time period allows brothers to seal their membership
in February or April the next year. Canantutlaga and
Lau-in-nih will be hosting a Brotherhood Fellowship in
February. It is open to all chapters to participate in
this event. Another opportunity for conversion will be
offered in April.
