Fall Pow Wow!

Brothers,

Pow Wow is September 15th-17th at CRM, don’t forget to register before it’s too late!

This event is full of fellowship and fun, with games, training cells, activities and more! Yes, there will even be an Elangomat Training at Pow Wow. You’ll be able to compete alongside your chapter to earn points towards the Black Bear! You’ll also be able to vote in the Lodge Officer elections, an important part of Pow Wow each year!

If you went through your ordeal at Spring Fellowship, you’ll be able to convert to Brotherhood at Pow Wow. Just check the box that says “Converting to Brotherhood” when you sign up!

IMPORTANT: If you are unable to attend Pow Wow but would like to remain active in the lodge you will have to pay your dues for 2023 on the Mowogo Website. Lodge dues are included in the cost of Pow Wow every year, so this is an important step for all who cannot attend. You can pay your dues here: Pay Dues & Transfers

Upcoming Elangomat Training

Hello fellow Mowogo brothers and sisters,

I am excited to announce that two more elangomat training dates have been added to the lodge calendar! Registration is open for both of them on the lodge website now! The first elangomat training is this weekend at Indian Summer (August 19th) at Camp Rotary. The second one will be during the training cells at Pow-Wow in September (15th–17th).

These training classes are for anyone who wishes to serve as an elangomat during an ordeal weekend. It is for anyone who has not been trained previously, but also for those who have been trained but would like a refresher. It is highly encouraged for those reading this email to attend. These are the first two of three elangomat training classes to be announced before Fall Fellowship. Things to keep in mind with these training classes: they include at least an hour and a half of in-class training and then a service project. Be prepared with work clothes, gloves, water, and anything else to take notes along the way. I can't wait to see you all there!

For those planning to attend, we are excited to see you all this weekend. Our Chapter members and I love providing service to our council's primitive camping property, Camp Rotary. We hope you all will enjoy the property as much as we do. Just a few quick reminders.

• Bring all of your appropriate PPE (Work Gloves, goggles or glasses, and long pants)
• Bring the appropriate equipment (like loppers, hand saws, and other Scout-appropriate cutting implements)
• Be sure you are prepared for the weather (Water, Sunscreen, and a Hat)
  • Side note on hats. The camp's lovable mascot Scout (the dog) doesn't like Cowboy hats
    so unless you want to get barked at...maybe pick a different hat for the day
• A Bugle will be used for flag ceremonies. So if you or your Scout has sensory issues, please bring the appropriate
  equipment.
• Lastly, Registration closes on Wednesday at midnight. So please register before so that we can determine our food
  budget. If you have any issues with paying beforehand let us know as soon as possible.

Section Leadership Conference

The Section ACT Leadership Conference (SLC), formerly known as ACT Conference, is less than a month away! The SLC is a opportunity for all Arrowmen to grow their leadership skills with their brothers from across Georgia and Alabama. At this conference, attendees can expect to share ideas with and receive feedback from Arrowmen from other lodges, learn about opportunities for leadership within their local chapter and lodge, and be inspired to provide leadership in the Order of the Arrow.

The Section ACT Leadership Conference is August 26 at Bert Adams. There are options to stay overnight either Saturday or Sunday as well. The event will cost $15, and you can register at https://sectione6.oa-bsa.org/act-leadership-conference/.

I would highly encourage all Arrowmen to attend this event. We have completely overhauled the syllabus to provide new and more relevant trainings, so you will want to attend even if you have been to other ACT Conferences.
