Mowogo Lodge Drum and Dance Team

Brothers,

At Pow Wow we had the opprotunity for members of our lodge to experince and learn aboutr the Mowogo Lodge Drum team. I would like to personally invite everyone who attended the meeting and anyone else who may have any form of interest to join the drum and dance groupme. If you have any questions about either one of the teams you may send me or David Stratton an email (copying another adult for YPT issues). We are going to have more drum and dance meetings in the next couple of months and more information about those will come out shortly.

October Elangomat Training

Hello brothers and sisters,

We have two more elangomat trainings left this year before Fall Fellowship. The first of the two being at Pow-Wow during the training cells at CRM.

The second one is in October at Scoutland. Note: it has been mentioned that it was October 14th which was true, but that date has since changed. The October elangomat training has been moved to Sunday October 29th. It will be in Cleveland hall at Scoutland beginning at 10AM. This is in conjunction with the Canantutlaga day of service so we have the classroom portion then move into the service portion with Canantutlaga.

As always, bring water, gloves, work clothes, and it's always good to bring a pencil and paper to take notes.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at lodge.vcm@mowogo.org.

Fall Pow Wow!!

Brothers,

I hope you’re all doing well.

Fall Pow Wow is just around the corner! Pow Wow is one of our lodge’s largest and most attended events each year. Taking place on September 15th-17th this year you won’t want to miss it!

Pow Wow is a unique event for our lodge, focused on fellowship, fun and brotherhood! You could compare it to a camporee, each chapter will participate in games, activities and trainings competing to take home the coveted Black Bear!

On Saturday morning we’ll have training cells, an opportunity to learn and earn points for your chapter. In the afternoon we’ll have games, some past examples are: Tug of War, Ultimate Frisbee, Wischixin, Waguli Stick, A Plunger Relay and more. All games are played Tournament Style with each chapter competing for third, second and first place!

One of the most important aspects of Pow Wow is Lodge Officer Elections. If you’re looking to run for a position, or would like to have a say in your 2023 Lodge Officers, you’ll have to attend. Elections will be taking place Sunday morning after breakfast and a short Scouts Own.

You may not know this, but if you went through your Ordeal at Spring Fellowship, you’re eligible for Brotherhood at Pow Wow! If you’re interested in converting to Brotherhood membership all you have to do is check a box when you sign up that says, “Converting to Brotherhood.” Your OA Handbook lists the requirements. Make sure you get those done before Pow Wow and you’re all set.

IMPORTANT: If you are unable to attend Pow Wow but would like to remain active in the lodge you will have to pay your dues for 2024 on the Mowogo Website. Lodge dues are included in the cost of Pow Wow every year, so this is an important step for all who cannot attend. You can pay your dues here: Pay Dues & Transfers

I hope to see you there,

SWAPA Jamboree OA Service Corps Volunteers Needed!!!

Good Day, Brothers!

My name is Tommy Phillips and I am the OA Service Corps lead for the Swapa Jamboree. Swapa is a massive Jamboree-type event held by both the Sweetwater and Apalachee Districts every year. Imagine a fun-filled event similar to a free range Thursday at CRM! This event will serve hundreds of youth throughout the council.

The OA Service Corps of the Jamboree will serve as a way to represent the OA and the Cheerful Service that we embody. We will perform various tasks such as Check-ins, Working the OA Trading post, and providing manpower and service to various program areas that need it. Staffing the Service Corps is a great way to experience the various sides of Swapa all while representing the Order of the Arrow. As a result, we could use plenty of volunteers to help us serve such an awesome sauce event! One important thing is that we need OA staff from all over to help us at the event. We already have staff throughout the Japeechen, Lau-in-nih and Canantutlaga chapters and we encourage staffers from even more chapters to help us out!

Swapa Jamboree will be held on September 22-24 at Camp Rainey Mountain. Staffing the event has a 40-dollar fee that provides you with patches, shirts, and food. Staff applications can be found here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeP7nolxjckJL0hdP6T5KfxNI4saKrnHgoR6cSWMVDgSInlsg/viewform and registration can be found here: https://www.nega-bsa.org/admin2/login.

I heavily recommend you all try out this event to represent the best lodge to new units and scouts that might not be too familiar with the OA and the awesome experiences that come from it. I also want to remind you all that serving will be a great way to demonstrate the Order's values of Brotherhood, Cheerfulness, and Service. I look forward to seeing you guys there!
