Mowogo Lodge at the University of Scouting

Brothers,

This upcoming Saturday, the annual University of Scouting is going to take place. This is a day where you can take various fun-filled classes with the purpose of providing experience and leadership that can be used to develop you as a person. The University of Scouting will be held at Osbourne Middle School (4404 Braselton Highway, Hoschton GA 30548) On December 2nd from 9 AM-4 PM.

The University of Scouting is the perfect place if you would like to meet with various people around the council who are willing to both help you hone your leadership skills, as well as provide solutions that you can implement in your own units or chapter. Showing up will also truly hammer in what kind of presence the OA truly has on the council.

For those attending, there are various areas that you can participate in. Firstly, the Order of the Arrow is holding the flag ceremony and we would like some help. If you are willing to help us out with flags then prepare to show up at 8:15 AM with Class A and sash.

Some Order of the Arrow-based classes that might interest you include sitting at the LLDC. This is the training course that our LEC goes through every year. Feel free to sit in on it and observe an LEC meeting as well as some training to prepare for the upcoming year. We also have an OA promotional booth led by Jayce that we recommend you check out as well as an introductory OA class taught by Liam, Addison, and Mr. Schlaf for scouts who are not in the OA. If you have any friends who are not in the OA then be sure to bring up the class to them to learn what our order is all about.

If you are interested in attending the University of Scouting, then be sure to bring Class A, a Sash, a Water bottle, a notebook to take notes with, and a writing utensil. The registration fee is $22 but walk-ins are more expensive at $27. Registration as well as more info can be found here.

I look forward to seeing you attend the University of Scouting with us!

Mowogo Website Updates

The website team has started the process of a mowogo.org website overhaul. This is necessary to keep the website software current and secure as we move forward.

Over the course of the next several weeks, the online registration system will not be available as we install new software and get ready for the coming 2024 event season. You will also notice other changes over time in some the menus and content pages as upgrades are made.

Please bear with us during this process. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Important Fall Fellowship Reminders and Information

Dear Brothers,

I hope that you all are doing well and staying healthy through the fall season. Fall Fellowship is knocking on our doorstep, and your lodge leadership has worked hard to prepare this camp for each of you!!! This is our first annual Fall Fellowship held at Scoutland! As a reminder, the deadline to sign up for Fall Fellowship as a candidate to complete your ordeal is this Friday, November 10th. For Mowogo Lodge members, the deadline to sign up is on Tuesday, November 14th.

Below are a few very important pieces of information that Brothers attending Fall Fellowship need to pay close attention to:

  • Camping Arrangments
    • You are required to provide your own sleeping accommodations. You need to bring your own tent.
  • Driving Requirements
    • Driving in camp will be prohibited without a parking pass. To drive into camp, you must consult with your chapter chief who will have two parking passes for your chapter. To drive into camp, you are required to borrow a parking pace from them, and then drive into camp. You must place your parking pass on the dashboard of your car so that it is clearly visible.
    • Speeding in camp will not be tolerated. If you are seen driving too fast on camp property your privilege to drive in camp will be revoked immediately.
    • If you have any further questions about parking passes, please consult your Lodge Vice Chief of Administration, Caroline Davis.
  • There will be a council cluster meeting in Cleveland Hall from 10:00PM-1:00PM. During this time there will be no admittance to the dining hall.
  • Any further information such as locations and times will be posted in the administration building and be readily available for your use while at camp.

I implore you to sign up if you are not already. This is a wonderful opportunity for everybody both in the lodge and as candidates.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me!

Yours in Brotherhood,
Joseph E. McGahee | Lodge Chief, Mowogo Lodge
