Pow-Wow All Hands on Deck!

Hello everyone,

I hope you all had a great summer, and I can't wait to hear all the stories at Indian Summer! However, as school kicks back in, I want everyone to remember that school starting back up also means Pow-Wow is right around the corner! Ever since I went through my ordeal in 2021, I have heard arrowmen in our lodge always talk about Pow-Wow. If there is one event that we host that most arrowmen refuse to miss (it should be all our events, but), it's Pow-Wow! There's a reason Pow-Wow is as popular as it is, and this year we, as an LEC, have found new ways to make Pow-Wow even more fun and enjoyable while keeping the parts that everyone loves, but in order to fulfill our vision, we need the support of the whole lodge.

Number 1: The best way to support the lodge and your fellow arrowmen is with your presence. So, make sure you sign up! You can click the link right now and Register for Pow-Wow! Remember, it is September 20th through the 22nd. If you have any questions regarding registration, feel free to ask me, our lodge vice chief of administration, Caroline, or your chapter chief!

Number 2: Make sure your chapter is participating! This year, there are a lot of different ways for your chapter to be in the spotlight. Each chapter is going to host a training, a quest event, new to this year, have a part in our Pow-Wow talent show taking place at Campfire, and, also new to this year, have a booth at the tailypo taking place Saturday night. Please make sure that you have reached out to your chapter chief and made sure they have submitted all of their items as listed above (training, quest, talent, and tailypo) and ask how you can be involved in the process! Whether that be helping with your chapter's training or being in the talent show! Also, keep in mind that the quest games and trainings have Black Bear points associated with them!

Number 3: This is geared more towards adults, but at Pow-Wow this year we are having a circus theme, and to help fit the theme, we are bringing circus-style snacks for Saturday evening. What I mean by circus-style snacks is like a popcorn machine, cotton candy machine, ice cream machine, peanut boiler, and snow cone machine! However, we need adults to help run these machines! If you are interested in helping with the facilitation of some of these activities and machines, please reach out to me and Mr. Royston so we know you're able to help out!

Number 4: Show scout spirit! This year, the theme for Pow-Wow is a circus theme! We want to see the best circus appearances out there! From hats to clown noses to whole outfits, we want to see it all! I may or may not personally be in a full-blown clown outfit, but make sure to show up and show out! This event is all about fun, fellowship, and scout spirit!

Last few things, more emails will be coming out about Pow-Wow as we near the date, but I want to remind everyone that this event is one where I want people to walk away from and reflect on it years from now and say, "Hey, do you remember that 2024 Pow-Wow? Wow, it was just unforgettable!" To emphasize this, we are also hosting a lodge chief reunion at Pow-Wow with all previous lodge chiefs, ranging from the first, Mr. Abit Massey in 1943, to our most recent, Joseph McGahee in 2023, and all the chiefs in between. We are also inviting the section leadership and the other lodge chiefs from our section to come see our lodge on full display at Pow-Wow and see the wonder that is Mowogo Lodge.

I truly thank each and every one of you for being here and for helping this vision come together. I can't wait to see the great work that is going to be done and how amazing this event turns out. This event cannot be a success without YOU. I hope to see you all soon!

If you have any questions or want to know how to get involved, please email me and Mr. Royston with any questions or comments you may have. Thank you.

Yours in Service,

Alex Sutter

Pow Wow Registration is now OPEN!

Brothers,

Registration for Pow Wow is now open! Get ready for one of the coolest and most unique events Mowogo hosts annually!

Pow Wow will be from September 20th - September 22nd at Camp Rainey Mountain. This is a circus-themed weekend of games, competitions, celebrations, and even a talent show!

With around two months left until the event begins, be sure to start brainstorming and practicing the talent show, strategizing for competitions, and last but not least, start to decide if you would like to run for a leadership position for the 2025 year as Lodge and most Chapter elections will take place at Pow Wow. Be sure to reach out to your Chapter Chief for talent show and competition ideas. They are your Chapter representative and will coordinate the ideas for you.

Be sure to register early here or at Mowogo.org to avoid paying late fees starting in September.

Continue having an awesome summer!

Section E6 ACT Conference

Brothers,

The Section E6 ACT Leadership Conference is in one month! Register now before it closes on August 9th!

The ACT conference is a Section-level leadership training course that will serve as an opportunity to learn new skills, meet new people from other lodges, and learn to be a better leader.

The training can be taken and enjoyed by everyone but if you are in or thinking of any type of leadership position in the OA then I heavily recommend taking the course.

After the training, there are opportunities to hang out, have fun, and even explore the beautiful peninsula of Camp FGL! Last year activities such as a movie night, games, and even a pool party took place.

The ACT Conference will be from August 23 - 25 at Camp Frank G. Lumpkin in LaGrange GA. Register and pay the $15 fee here or go to sectione6.oa-bsa.org for more information.

See you there!

Yours in Enthusiasm,
